Responsibility

The System Administrator is an IT Generalist. As such, this role is responsible for working with a variety of IT functional areas and systems. Their day-to-day responsibilities may change over time based on the IT Department's needs. The System Administrator will work with other IT teams to learn processes and functions so they can act as a backup while other staff members are unavailable. Acting as administrators for various IT-supported systems (both legacy and new), a portion of their time is spent supporting these systems. In addition, the System Administrator will also be required to learn new systems and provide training support to other team members. The System Administrator has a multi-faceted role providing support to the entire IT department. Translate business requirements into efficient and effective technical solutions across a collection of systems. Provides support for current and future enterprise systems. Works with the Support Desk to efficiently resolve incidents, identify and escalate problems and consistently maintain departmental SLAs within acceptable levels. Follow SMC IT security policies, procedures, and established standards. Adhere to SMC’s IT change control (enablement) process. Support continuous improvement efforts across the IT department. Work with the Infrastructure, Operations teams supporting initiatives to automate processes. All other duties as assigned. PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT. Collaborative team environment in a shared workspace. Carry a company-provided phone & participate in on-call rotation. General office, computer room, warehouse, and factory areas.
