Responsibility
The Supply Chain Manager (Purchasing Manager) will manage the purchasing functions and duties involved in the effective and economical procurement of required materials, supplies, and services. You will develop primary and secondary sources with consideration of price, quality, availability, reliability, and technical support. You will also track and analyze supplier performance on delivery, returns, quality, price, and other factors as identified. In addition, you will plan and coordinate the purchase of raw materials to meet manufacturing requirements. Manages the purchase of all raw materials and factory supplies required to support production schedules and coordinates with Engineering and Quality to ensure materials are available when needed. Manages the Buyer and Purchasing Data Coordinator personnel. Negotiates price, terms, and conditions to obtain maximum value for procurement of goods and services. Works with the corporate legal department to negotiate and formalize contracts with suppliers for necessary goods and services. Assists with new product introductions including identification and qualification of new suppliers and coordination of all purchasing activity with Quality, Packaging Engineering, Labeling, Logistics, Regulatory Affairs, Manufacturing, and Marketing. Sourcing subject matter expert for third-party product introductions following our procedures. Acts as a catalyst and leads the efforts to reduce the overall cost of purchased items. Meets with internal and external auditors concerning questions and observations made relative to this department's function. Reconciles Accounts Payable discrepancies. Analyzes suppliers to ascertain their financial health and stability of the company. Assists the quality department in assessing the supplier's ability to meet quality requirements. Takes ownership of key supply-demand/service-cost issues to ensure timely resolution. Develop and implement an overall Materials Plan for raw materials to optimize inventory and fulfillment. Builds the annual inventory plan and develops the annual standard cost for purchased materials. Works with direct staff and manufacturing counterparts to ensure on-time deliveries to customers while minimizing inventory investments and increasing inventory turns. Recommends solutions, designs, and implements system processes to improve productivity, increase efficiencies, and reduce costs. Develops and/or supports the development of all related Work Instructions, and updates as required. Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by implementing, maintaining, and aligning company policies that adhere to local, state, and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations. Manages employee talent and development. Coordinate performance reviews, recruitment/hiring, technical training, salary adjustments, corrective actions, and employee relations. Maintain results through coaching, counseling of staff, and setting meaningful and measurable goals. Provide growth, training, and development opportunities to employees. Supplier Management.
