Responsibility

Principal Physical Design Engineer will be responsible for taking ownership of the physical chip development, executing from the inception of the design (RTL or gate netlist) through the tape-out release to wafer fabrication using the latest Synopsys tools. The individual will closely collaborate with digital design engineers, customers, place and route designers and support engineers. Preferable additional duties may include the evaluation of requirements for new designs and assistance in formulating bases of estimates (BoE) for bid and proposal of potential new business. Latest Synopsys EDA tool experience. Floor-planning of moderate to very complex integrated circuits, including die sizing, macro and IO placements. Understanding of multi-corner multi-mode (MCMM) optimizations. Creating power and ground distribution networks and applying unified power format (UPF.). Constraining and synthesis of clock trees (CTS.). Running routing optimization, congestion analysis and route-ability checks. Support of static timing analysis (STA) and execution of an engineering change order (ECO.). Support of technical presentations for both internal and external customers

Overview The Sr. Principal Physical Design Engineer will be responsible for taking ownership of the physical chip development, executing from the inception of the design (RTL or gate netlist) through the tape-out release to wafer fabrication using the latest Synopsys tools. The candidate should have a high aptitude for floor-planning the design of complex digital top level and/or blocks, with experience across the complete ASIC/SOC design flow including routing, static timing closure, EM/IR analysis and chip finishing. The individual will closely collaborate with digital design engineers, customers, place and route designers and support engineers. The ‘ideal’ candidate will have experience with radiation-hardened design methodologies and exposure to designing ultra-deep sub-micron nodes (e.g. 22nm). Preferable additional duties may include the evaluation of requirements for new designs and assistance in formulating bases of estimates (BoE) for bid and proposal of potential new business. Both Hybrid and Remote work schedule available. Qualifications HOW TO SUCCEED To join us you’ll need: Minimum Requirements: • Bachelor's degree in Electronic or Electrical Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent. • 10 years of direct industry experience in ASIC and/or SoC design with Bachelor's degree. • OR 8 years of direct industry experience in ASIC and/or SoC design with Master's degree. • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance. Preferred Requirements: • Masters in Electronic or Electrical Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent. • 8+ years of direct industry experience in ASIC and/or SoC design. • A strong background in physical integrated circuit design and transistor layout architectures. • Use of modern revision-control tools. • Performing post-layout power analysis to include EM & IR drop. • Assist in the training of junior designers. • Provide technical guidance and leadership for contracted services. • Experience with place & route, clock tree synthesis, timing closure, decap & filler cell insertion, density fill methodologies, DFM, and EM/IR methodologies. • Self-motivated and innovative aptitude, ability to come up with solutions to roadblocks. • Adaptable and flexible, able to pivot quickly to changes. • A self-starter with the ability to assume leadership roles and drive innovative solutions. • Ability to work well in a diverse team environment.
