Role Summary Rivian Charging Cloud is truly a full stack team of developers working on cutting edge technologies. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sr Backend Software Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in designing, implementing, and maintaining robust and scalable backend systems along with leading the technical direction of the team and hiring a team under you. This position is also open for management in the future. Responsibilities • Design, architect, and implement robust and scalable backend systems for cloud applications, focusing on performance, security, and maintainability. • Develop RESTful APIs, microservices, and serverless components to facilitate seamless communication between various application layers. • Collaborate with front-end engineers, product managers, and DevOps teams to deliver end-to-end features and solutions. • Optimize and fine-tune backend services to meet performance benchmarks, and identify areas for improvement. • Implement security measures, authentication, and authorization protocols to safeguard sensitive data and ensure compliance with industry standards. • Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality, best practices, and adherence to coding standards. • Stay updated on emerging trends and advancements in cloud technologies and backend development, and apply them to enhance our products. Qualifications • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. • 4+ years of professional experience in backend software development . • Proven experience as a backend software engineer, with a strong focus on cloud-based solutions. • Strong proficiency in one or more programming languages like Java or Python. • Expertise in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure including services Kafka, Notification and memory caches • Experience with designing and building scalable and distributed systems. • Proficiency in database design and optimization (SQL, NoSQL). • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes). • Experience with version control systems (Git) and • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment. Preferred: • AWS Cloud Certification. • Java 8, Spring, ReactJS, HTML • Previous experience in a senior or lead software engineering role. • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. • Knowledge of micro-services architecture and related technologies. • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools for CI/CD. • Contributions to open-source projects or technical publications. Pay Disclosure Salary Range for California Based Applicants: $130,000 - $150,000 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law). Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
