Responsibility

Application of extensive knowledge of T cell biology including activation pathways, signaling pathways and antigen-specific differentiation, to characterize T cells in vitro and enable science-driven decision making. Plan and implement critical studies required to drive hypothesis-driven research. Strong ability to interpret and synthesize information from complex datasets, both published and internal within BMS. Identification of new methods and research tools for continuous development of drug candidate screening workflow in vitro. Provide scientific and technical insights on cross-functional assignments. Provide recommendations on department-level strategic decisions. Represent the company in external settings and work with internal and external collaborators. Act as a functional advisor to team members, especially to more junior colleagues

The Immuno-Oncology and Cellular Therapy Thematic Research Center is one of the fundamental research and development engines delivering therapeutics to patients. Our mission is to drive leadership in the use of immune effector cell-based therapies in hematological and solid cancers. More specifically, we are focused on developing engineered cell-based therapies, as well as biotherapeutics, both aimed at harnessing the power of immune cells to mediate anti-tumor activity. Responsibilities include and are not limited to: • Application of extensive knowledge of T cell biology including activation pathways, signaling pathways and antigen-specific differentiation, to characterize T cells in vitro and enable science-driven decision making • Plan and implement critical studies required to drive hypothesis-driven research • Strong ability to interpret and synthesize information from complex datasets, both published and internal within BMS • Identification of new methods and research tools for continuous development of drug candidate screening workflow in vitro • Provide scientific and technical insights on cross-functional assignments • Provide recommendations on department-level strategic decisions • Represent the company in external settings and work with internal and external collaborators • Act as a functional advisor to team members, especially to more junior colleagues Basic Qualifications: • Bachelor’s Degree • 7+ years of academic and / or industry experience Or • Master’s Degree • 5+ years of academic and / or industry experience Or • Ph.D. or equivalent advanced degree in the Life Sciences • 2+ of academic and / or industry experience Preferred Qualifications: • Relevant learning and work experience: (1) Ph.D. in immunology, immuno-oncology, or tumor immunology with 3+ years of successful, relevant postdoctoral experience as demonstrated by strong publication record or 1~6 years of relevant experience in an industry setting, or (2) a M.S. with a minimum of 12 years of relevant work experience in T cell immunology, or (3) B.S. with minimum of 14 years of relevant work experience in T cell immunology • Extensive experience with in vitro technologies typically employed to engineer T cells, followed by functionality assessment including but not limited to viral transduction, targeted gene editing, Incucyte-based readouts, and PCR • Expertise in multi-parameter flow cytometry (12-plus colors) and immune cell functional assays (e.g., proliferation, cytokine production, cytotoxicity, imaging) • Experience with analysis of next generation sequencing/large gene expression datasets using a programming language is highly desired • Skilled at critical and probabilistic thinking, able to apply prior experience and theoretical knowledge to identify and solve complex scientific problems • Self-motivated and focused with project management-oriented thinking; able to work on multiple projects in a matrix environment • Ability to work productively as both team member and as individual contributor • Strong interpersonal skills and willingness to collaborate within cross-functional teams; skilled at listening to and coordinating with colleagues in a matrixed environment • Ability to conceptualize and communicate the broader impact of personal activities to other projects and teammates • Strong organizational skills to ensure thorough and timely documentation of experiments and preparation of data for compiling reports The starting compensation for this job is a range from $102,000 to $129,000 plus incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility).
