Responsibility
The Network Administrator will work with a team of engineers to deliver excellent support and management of internal and customer environments. This role will field issues and requests escalated directly by customers, end users, and monitoring tools. This role also has exposure across a range of server, virtualization, and security platforms, working issues independently, and when needed, with the assistance of subject matter experts on the team. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following: network setup and maintenance, web hosting and host environment development, aiding in recommendation of hardware and software purchases. Identify and mitigate security risks, threats and vulnerabilities of networks, systems, applications, and new technology initiatives. Performs OS level hardening and integrity monitoring per DoD and industry best- practices. Performs, evaluates, and remediates findings from vulnerability scans in a multi-platform, enterprise environment. Performs product evaluations to recommend and implement products/services for network security. Validates and tests complex security architecture and design solutions from recommended vendor technologies. Administration of all physical and virtual server environments. New physical and virtual server setup and configuration. Administration of network security infrastructure systems. Local Area Networks and Wide Area Networks across all company facilities in all states and offices and fobs. Administration of checkpoint firewalls and other security systems. Administration of customer co-located equipment, VPNs and similar systems. Management of on-site and off-site back-up and restore processes/disaster recovery. Manage outside vendors tasked with providing or augmenting network security. Coordinate system updates with administrators to ensure security vulnerabilities and risk remain as low as possible. Participate in design meetings, reviews, implementation projects and coordinate with other departments. Maintain all network monitoring systems and participate in a rotating coverage schedule to provide off-hours support for all IT systems. Establish baselines, provide metrics and regular reporting as directed. Documentation of network architecture. Network related policy and procedure generation. Other duties may be assigned by management. Maintain existing IT network elements; implement upgrades, replacement and new equipment as directed. Monitor the IT Network systems for proper operation, error conditions and unauthorized changes. Respond to alerts and take corrective action; provide root cause analysis and suggest improvements. Maintain appropriate logs, databases and history to perform trending analysis and take proactive steps to ensure the proper operation of systems. Maintain appropriate tools to assist in the execution of duties. Maintain appropriate and current documentation of network. Support other departments to ensure network availability. Suggest improvements and seek additional training to maintain skills necessary to execute duties
