Responsibility
The primary responsibilities involve receiving, storing, selecting, and shipping general and/or specialized bulk and bin materials and equipment. The role is critical in ensuring that the logistics operations run smoothly and efficiently, contributing to the overall mission of the Department of Veterans Affairs to provide exceptional health care to Veterans. As a Materials Handler, you will be responsible for preparing shipping and inventory documents for both manual and automated inventory systems. You will select specific storage locations within the framework of a general warehousing plan, ensuring that stock is rotated and that outdated materials are checked and removed as necessary. The position also requires maintaining appropriate safeguards and temperature controls for various materials, including hazardous and temperature-sensitive products. In addition to handling deliveries and warehousing materials, you will participate in conducting inventory checks and communicate any discrepancies found during these processes. You will ensure that all products and shelving are marked with corresponding identification numbers, load and unload shipments from trucks and other material conveyances, and make off-site deliveries in motor vehicles typically weighing less than 4500 pounds. Other related duties may be assigned as necessary to support the logistics operations. Receives, stores, and ships bin and bulk supplies, materials, and equipment.
