Job DescriptionJob DescriptionBenefits:401(k)401(k) matchingHealth insurancePOSITION SUMMARY: Event Designers are responsible for securing new business and maintaining repeat customers for Main Event Caterers.Specifically, the position will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND TASKS:Responsible for meeting or exceeding sales goals on a consistent basisDeveloping prospects by prospecting, being active in the community, and networking; Serves as the MEC Brand Ambassador in targeted community events or organizations in his/her regionMaintains successful, repetitive client list by providing exceptional service and cultivating strong relationshipsNegotiates pricing, proposals and contracts with clientsManages sales processes including maintaining sales reportsDevelops market and competitor knowledge and be able to actively suggest new ways MEC can deliver to the same levelRemains current on industry trends as it pertains to food and beverage innovationCreates exciting and enticing sales proposalsEnsures fulfillment of special requests including dietary restrictions and allergiesEnsure compliance with company booking policies and proceduresEnsure all bookings follow accounting/billing standards for audit key controls and receivablesSuccessful implementation of catering free sell policies, food/beverage minimums, service charge, fees, etc.Assure all bookings are accounted for in contract binders and up to dateCoordinate and gain approval for all menu tasting events for clients and communicate all details to appropriate operations team membersOther duties as assignedKEY COMPETENCIES:Planner and organizerProblem solvingPersonableHighly professionalService orientedOutgoing/ExtravertProactive and responsiveAbility to rebound from set-backsSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: none.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelors degree or equivalent preferredMinimum of 2 year of sales experience, preferably in an off-premise catering settingAbility to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, resolve problems and recommend solutionsSelf-motivated with the ability to complete assigned tasks with little supervision; high sense of urgencyDetail-oriented and ability to meet strict deadlinesPositive attitude and the ability to handle challenges with maturity and diplomacyAn energetic, flexible, easygoing people person, capable of managing diverse personalitiesAble to be flexible, adapt and respond to change, make decisions in stressful situations and prioritize tasks and projectsKnowledge in all areas of sales and event planning and executionStrong written and verbal communication skillsProficiency with computers and software applications including Word and ExcelLICENSES OR CERTIFICATION: NAPHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.Travel: Significant but local, more than 50% traveling to off-site meetingsWORKING CONDITIONS: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
