Responsibility

Shift: 8am-4pm. (After hours support as required). Design, develop, evaluate, and modify physical and virtual compute environments throughout systems life cycle. Participate in system conceptual design and documentation. Determine system specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility. Creates and maintains detailed system documentation. Provides system/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance. Provide input to briefings, transitioning concepts to execution, course of action (COA) development, and assisting in project technical planning and implementation. Develop standard operation procedures (SOPs) and system documentation. Collaborate with managers, network engineers, team members, and customer on solutions and issues. Maintains current knowledge of rapidly changing technology, always on the lookout for new technologies, and works with management to evolve current processes. Download, stage and deploy systems-related security policies and updates to maintain information system compliance with DISA security policies and procedures (STIGs, IAVAs, etc.). Participate in special projects as assigned. Develop scripts and automation (BASH, Python, Ansible, Puppet, etc.). to perform recurring systems administration tasks, automate installs, gather metrics, etc. Administer Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments with an emphasis in the following areas:. Configure, deploy, and manage Red Hat Enterprise Linux versions 7/8. Utilize Red Hat Identity Manager to manage identity stores, authentication, policies, and authorization policies. Core Linux Infrastructure services (CA, [openssl], DNS [bind], DHCP [dhcpd], NTP [ntpd/MicroSync], Red Hat Identity Management [ipa-server], File Share [nfs, glusterfs]). Employ Automation Technologies (Ansible/Puppet). Interact with Logging Technologies (syslog-ng/Splunk). Administer VMware virtual environments to include ESXi hosts, vCenter appliances, VxRail HCIs, and VSANs. Ensure patches are maintained across a diverse Linux environment (e.g. Upgrade and/or install, configure, and maintain software as needed (GitLab, Splunk, NorthStar/Paragon, Puppet, Red Hat Identity Management, OpenNMS, VMware, IDPA, Firmware, etc.). Develops advanced technical solutions for the management of networks, software, hardware, configurations, and architectures. Troubleshoots highly complex system hardware and software issues. Develops training materials for end users on the proper use of hardware and software. Develops implementation plans for software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages. Monitors and tunes systems to achieve optimum performance levels. Ensures workstation/server data integrity by implementing standard software and hardware solutions. Leads efforts to ensure data/media recoverability by following a schedule of system backups and database archive operations. Conducts advanced hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines. Develops performance and security plans for computers that meet the needs of network users. Evaluates existing systems and plans long-term strategies. May be required to work evening, weekend, and holiday hours as required

Linux Systems Administrator Senior Level Job Description Summary: Work Location: Onsite - Doral, FL (No telecommuting option) Clearance: Secret (must be able to obtain TS/SCI) Shift: 8am-4pm. (After hours support as required) GDIT provides enterprise-wide IT services in support of US Southern Command’s (SOUTHCOM) mission critical operations throughout their Area of Responsibility (AOR), which consists of Central America, South America, and select countries in the Caribbean. SOUTHCOM is headquartered in Doral, FL. GDIT SOUTHCOM Cyber Information Technology Enterprise Services (SCITES) is working to deliver and operationalize information technology (IT) services for all US SOUTHCOM combatant command constructed networks. These constructed networks span the US SOUTHCOM Area of Responsibility (AOR). Work performed under this Task Order directly provides US SOUTHCOM a defensible, secure, modern, and efficient IT infrastructure across all combatant command constructed networks. We have an opportunity for a Senior Linux Systems Administrator to work in support of SOUTHCOM Cyber Information Technology Enterprise Services (SCITES). This position supports SOUTHCOM's transformative move to a Zero Trust Architecture in alignment with the DoD Zero Trust Strategy and Executive Order (EO) 14028. Experience/Training Desired: • Working knowledge of ServiceNow • Working knowledge of certificate-based security (TLS, SSL, OCSP) • Working knowledge of networking elements, including TCP/IP protocols & ports, DNS, NAT, subnet masks, etc. • Working knowledge of object-oriented databases; MySQL experience preferred • Experience with HBAC and RBAC policy creation in Red Hat Identity Manager. • Experience with direct customer support for both internal and external customers. • Experience with Server STIGs, patching, Tenable, ACAS, MECM, and IAVA vulnerabilities. • Experience with automation processes and tools. • Experience with implementing and maintaining systems documentation. • Experience with developing training for both internal and external junior system administrators. • Experience with managing, monitoring, and responding to key server infrastructure alerts. • Experience with current scripting languages: PowerShell, BASH, Python, Ansible, Puppet, etc. • Experience with infrastructure including but not limited to: data center operations, server hardware, operating systems (Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7/8), web servers (Apache, Nginx), virtualization (VMware), networking, storage, monitoring, etc. Education Required: • BA/BS or equivalent with 8+ years of experience.
