Job Title: Janitor Schedule: can vary please schedule your interview for more details Pay: 20.61 /hr. Permanent Placement Opportunity after 480 hours Weekly Pay: while working with the Galt Foundation. Job Overview: This position will be working on site at the military base; must be able to pass a federal background for entry to the base site. Driving your own vehicle on base accounts for 5% of your overall work schedule, must have a driver’s license and proper insurance coverage. The work will typically be cleaning shared spaces, sometimes with specialized skills such as floor cleaning or other specialties. You will be joining a team of dedicated folks doing meaningful work and in a supportive environment. Responsibilities and Duties • Service, cleaning, and ensuring supplies are maintained in restrooms. • Gather and empty trash. • Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, to prevent damage to floors and fixtures. • Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them. • Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created. • Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks. • Notify management concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems, i.e., broken toilet seats, dispensers, plumbing issues, etc. • Remove snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas, using snowplows, snow blowers, and snow shovels, and spread snow-melting chemicals. • Request supplies and equipment used for daily cleaning. • Clean and polish furniture and fixtures. • Clean windows, glass/mirrors, using cleaners, sponges, and squeegees. • Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment. • Dilute concentrated chemicals in correct proportions according to manufacturer’s specifications for ready to use solutions. • Steam-clean or shampoo carpets. Qualifications • Previous janitorial experience preferred. • Can follow verbal and written instructions. • Great Attendance Commitment • Good verbal and written communication • Walk and stand for long periods of time. • Lift up to 50lbs, carry weight, bending, pulling. • Able to work independently with little supervision.
