Responsibility

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) will care for ill, injured, or convalescing patients or persons with disabilities in hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, private homes, group homes, and similar institutions. He or she may work under the supervision of a Registered or Licensed Practical Nurse. Assist with personal care assistance for patients on visiting nurse services or hospice based off the care plan established by the nurse. Observes patients, charts, and reports changes in conditions such as adverse reactions, or to changes in condition, pain control or skin issues. Answers patients' calls and refers clinical questions to the nurse. Measures and records patients' vital signs such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration and pulse oximetry. Provides basic patient care or treatments such as taking temperatures or blood pressures, assisting with dressing, mobility, and general assistance in their home. Works as part of a health care team to assess patient needs, and reports to the nurse. Records food and fluid intake and output. Other duties as assigned
