Responsibility
The Facility Automation Engineer (FAE) provides in-depth technical knowledge and support to the site in the operation and maintenance of facility systems and infrastructure including troubleshooting. The FAE provides design and construction supervision and oversight on capital projects and is responsible for ensuring that field work is done in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications and GSK design guides and procedures. Provide automation support and expertise to the Facility Engineering group to support multiple projects simultaneously. This includes site wide DCS systems (i.e., Rockwell EMS, BMS & Admin Metasys systems) as well as other facility control systems. Ensures that facility infrastructure is maintained in robust fashion and the site’s capacity and utilization is well understood. Ensures that standards for various systems are maintained. Provides guidance and support to contract service providers. Reports unsafe acts and hazards and encourage others to work safely. Utilizes and continuously improves towards the goal of Zero accidents, zero defects and zero waste. Coordinates the work of external construction contractors, vendors and manufacturers. Troubleshoots complex technical problems where solutions require knowledge of different disciplines. Makes decisions on field problems based on interpretation of government regulations, industry practices, building codes and GSK design standards. Responsible for ensuring that construction work is done in accordance with GSK quality standards. Responsible for ensuring the successful completion of commissioning, turnover and closeout activities, including acceptance testing, training, corrective work, etc. Ensure that projects, change controls, and plant modifications are reviewed appropriately. Ensure that facility system information including capacity, utilization, manuals, and drawings are maintained properly. Ensure that programs submitted by contract service providers are reviewed and approved. Ensure that systems and processes are continuously improved by performing routing GEMBAs and process confirmations, performing problem solving, and developing standard work. Basic Qualifications: • BS in engineering discipline. • Minimum of 5+ years' experience delivery automation solutions within manufacturing environment. • Minimum of 5+ hands on experience with DCS systems, PLC’s/HMI’s, SCADA’s, data historians, networks. Including troubleshooting, making changes (programming/configuration) upgrades and directing external automation teams to deliver larger facility solutions. Preferred Qualifications: • Preferred BS in Electrical/Automation/Controls/Mechanical/Chemical Engineering. • Manufacturing experience in a pharmaceutical environment preferred. • 3+ years supporting manufacturing sites facility plant/infrastructure equipment. • Demonstrated automation experience supporting facility infrastructure systems (i.e., site wide facility DCS system, HVAC, Chilled Water/Steam Systems, USP water, UPS) for a large GMP regulated production plant. • Experienced with Rockwell ControlLogix PLCs / FTView, Virtual i.e., VMWare), and database/historian (Aspentech). • Ability to troubleshoot control systems from the field element up through operator interfaces and databases. • Ability to read loop, single line electrical schematics, and P&ID drawings and associate w/ mechanical aspects/overall system functionality. • Working knowledge of national safety electrical codes and standards, as well as other applicable standards necessary to perform job functions. • Good understanding of S88, S95 and batch processing operations required. • Experience developing commissioning / qualification documentation, knowledge of GAMP5. • Strong initiative and integrity as well as strong written and verbal communication skills. • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment. • Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced multi-task environment. • Experience with Lean manufacturing / Lean Sigma Green Belt certified, RCI’s.
