Responsibility
As an ORISE participant, you will join a community of scientists and researchers in an effort to evaluate coagulation, inflammation, and complement research in the field of organ support. This opportunity provides an opportunity to learn new scientific applications of traumatic organ failure models and extracorporeal life support systems such as lung and renal support devices. The research will be conducted on extracorporeal surfaces and in animal models with organ failure. This evaluation will help to develop novel therapies and modalities to improve outcomes in injured war fighter and patients on ECMO. Application of traumatic organ failure models and extracorporeal life support systems such as lung and renal support devices. Research assays of histochemistry, coagulation, complement, inflammation, physiology, and conduct experiments with in vitro ECMO and animal models. Budgeting and Project Management Experimental Design. Rigor and Reproducibility in Translational Research. Reporting findings to the team and participation in assessment of progress. Preparing manuscripts and reports, including preparation of grants for Intramural and Extramural Funding Opportunities. San Antonio, Texas What is the anticipated start date? Exact start dates will be determined at the time of selection and in coordination with the selected candidate. This appointment is a twelve-/month research appointment, with the possibility to be renewed for additional research periods.
