About the position The Computer Scientist position at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) involves providing expert advice and leadership in the development and maintenance of advanced information systems. Responsibilities • Advise on complex issues related to security research, acquisition, design, development, and maintenance of information systems. , • Represent the IRS at professional meetings and conferences, consulting with senior staff and IT specialists. , • Provide leadership in the conceptual design and development of major prototype systems or extensive modifications to existing systems. , • Conduct research in significant areas such as artificial intelligence and its applications. , • Collaborate with international experts to develop IT policies and represent the IRS in national and international technical committees. Requirements • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field with at least 30 semester hours in mathematics, statistics, and computer science, including differential and integral calculus. , • Specialized experience at the GS-14 level, including competence in computer system architecture, system software organization, and information structure transformation. , • Experience in leading projects for the design, acquisition, and implementation of information systems. Nice-to-haves • Experience in Infrastructure Engineering and Design. , • Knowledge of relevant mathematical and statistical sciences.
