Responsibility

The CSO leads security initiatives and heads the overall security strategy of the company. This includes performing security risk assessments and implementing security policies that prevent data loss and fraud. CSOs are responsible for enhancing and improving physical security and, increasingly, IT security. They must identify organizational protection goals and objectives, ensuring they're consistent with their organizations' strategic plans. Part of a CSO's job is to work with other executives to decide on the priority of security needs and then spend according to an organization's financial constraints and directives. CSOs also oversee a network of security directors, managers and staff and work with local, state and federal law enforcement and other security agencies. Develop and implement strategic security protocols and procedures. Develop policies and protocols for securing and protecting sensitive information. Hire and recruit the best talent in building up the security of an organization. Coordinate cross team functional in maintaining vigilance and security of an organization. Develop logistics to protect intellectual property, copyrights and other related risks. Utilize information technology to protect electronic information resources. Initiate measures to protect highly sensitive databases. Develop and initiate procedures to protect company's fixed assets. Initiate safety measures to protect the lives and properties of a business unit
