Responsibility

The schedule for this position is primarily Monday-Friday, with coverage expectations on supporting evenings/nights based on operational needs. This role partners with the unit managers to develop and implement action plans focusing on quality, safety improvements, care affordability, and enhancing both patient and team member experiences. As a vital member of the interprofessional team, the Assistant Manager supports the development of a dynamic workplace where team members feel empowered to excel in both patient and organizational outcomes. This leadership position operates within a 24/7 unit, including weekends and holidays, and plays a critical role in advancing nursing practice through advocacy for evidence-based practices and adherence to professional nursing standards. Collaborate with the unit managers to design, implement, and evaluate action plans aimed at improving quality and safety, ensuring cost-effective care, and fostering excellent patient and team experiences. Lead the execution of established action plans and utilize data analysis to assess their effectiveness and make necessary adjustments. Actively participate in the interprofessional team to create a supportive environment that encourages team excellence in clinical practice. Advocate for evidence-based nursing practices and uphold professional nursing standards within the unit. Provide strategic leadership and management oversight in the absence of other administrative and management personnel. Manage staffing across the hospital, ensuring adequate coverage and responding to critical situations, including rapid response and code calls. Collaborate with leadership on patient flow and operational efficiency to optimize care delivery

Qualifications: • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required. • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active RN license through the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC). • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA); additional advanced life support certifications may be required based on unit specialty and patient care policies. • A minimum of 5-7 years of nursing experience, with significant exposure to inpatient hospital operations, is highly preferred. • Previous leadership experience in hospital operations is essential, as well as the ability to manage staffing and respond effectively in acute care scenarios.
