This role partners with the unit managers to develop and implement action plans focusing on quality, safety improvements, care affordability, and enhancing both patient and team member experiences. As a vital member of the interprofessional team, the Assistant Manager supports the development of a dynamic workplace where team members feel empowered to excel in both patient and organizational outcomes. This leadership position operates within a 24/7 unit, including weekends and holidays, and plays a critical role in advancing nursing practice through advocacy for evidence-based practices and adherence to professional nursing standards. Key Responsibilities: • Collaborate with the unit managers to design, implement, and evaluate action plans aimed at improving quality and safety, ensuring cost-effective care, and fostering excellent patient and team experiences. • Lead the execution of established action plans and utilize data analysis to assess their effectiveness and make necessary adjustments. • Actively participate in the interprofessional team to create a supportive environment that encourages team excellence in clinical practice. • Advocate for evidence-based nursing practices and uphold professional nursing standards within the unit. • Provide strategic leadership and management oversight in the absence of other administrative and management personnel. • Manage staffing across the hospital, ensuring adequate coverage and responding to critical situations, including rapid response and code calls. • Collaborate with leadership on patient flow and operational efficiency to optimize care delivery. Qualifications: • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required. • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active RN license through the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC). • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA); additional advanced life support certifications may be required based on unit specialty and patient care policies. • A minimum of 5-7 years of nursing experience, with significant exposure to inpatient hospital operations, is highly preferred. • Previous leadership experience in hospital operations is essential, as well as the ability to manage staffing and respond effectively in acute care scenarios.
