Responsibility

The Administrative Secretary provides primary support for the Medical Director and Administrative Director of the Pathology and Laboratory Department. Performs administrative assistant duties including (a) primary verbal and electronic communication coordinator for laboratory and laboratory staff (b) transcribing/typing routine or important executive documents, policy, memos, and letters; (c) Record keeping organization and documentation retention of all pathology and laboratory reports; (d) General Secretarial Duties for Pathologist while on site. Alert the Pathologist for any positive cancer cases. Operates necessary Lab computer system(s) to perform job function including but not limited to: (a) Laboratory billing entry (b) Cerner-to retrieve patient data, reports, and necessary information as needed by Pathologist and Laboratory Director. Daily packaging, prepping, processing, and quality assurance for Pathology Specimens, tissue blocks, and slides to be sent out to DRMC. Coordinates and maintains inventory, ordering, stocking, and distribution of supplies for the main laboratory and pathology department. Assists in care and maintenance of laboratory safety work area and furnishings/equipment. Responsible for generating various lab reports and graphs as requested by Laboratory Director and Pathologist. Other related duties as assigned include, but are not limited to i.e. Performs lab reception clerical functions, Monitoring send out Test Not Performed, lab specimen receiving; send-out testing prepping and packaging; assisting in training and competency of new employees
