Partner to apply public health and behavioral science principles to develop effective health literacy training plans, related training content, and health literacy initiatives. Support the execution of health literacy initiatives. Collaborate with internal LSD colleagues and key stakeholders from the broader organization to ensure training is effectively developed and executed. Partner to ensure training is compliant with legal, compliance, and regulatory requirements. Engage with community groups to promote and improve health literacy in alignment with business goals. The Learning & Skill Development (LSD) organization plays a key role in installing a digital culture and mindset across the Commercial and Medical Group (CMG) as well as providing every CMG customer - be it employee, manager, healthcare provider, and patient - with the information and skills that they need next, when they need it, where they need it. LSD is in the process of transforming CMG into a continuous then contribution learning culture by pioneering advances in skills management, digital learning, experiential learning, and workflow learning This internship position is remote. Key Responsibilities • Partner to apply public health and behavioral science principles to develop effective health literacy training plans, related training content, and health literacy initiatives. • Support the execution of health literacy initiatives. • Collaborate with internal LSD colleagues and key stakeholders from the broader organization to ensure training is effectively developed and executed. • Partner to ensure training is compliant with legal, compliance, and regulatory requirements. • Engage with community groups to promote and improve health literacy in alignment with business goals. • Lead, act, and live our Operating Principles in all aspects of work. • Comply with all laws, regulations, policies and procedures that govern the conduct of Genentech activities. Program Highlights • Intensive 12-weeks, full time (40 hours per week) paid internship. • Program start dates are in May/June (Summer). • A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship. • Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects. • Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry. Who You Are (Required) Required Education: You meet one of the following criteria: - Must have attained a Master's Degree - Must be pursuing a PhD/MD (enrolled student) - Must have attained a PhD Required Majors: Public Health, Health Equity, Health Education or Health Promotion, Behavioral Science, or a related field. Preferred Skills: • Strong communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex medical information for a general audience. • Ability to analyze public health data and translate it into actionable health literacy initiatives. • Knowledge of health care systems and barriers to access. • Familiarity with using digital communication platforms and social media for community outreach and education. • Familiarity with conducting literature reviews, data analysis, and basic research methodologies relevant to public health. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. • Ability to work effectively in a team and collaborate with various departments. • Sensitivity to diverse cultures and communities, reflecting an understanding of how culture impacts health literacy. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience or coursework in public health, community engagement, healthcare, health communication, or the pharmaceutical industry. • Previous employment, internships, or volunteer work in healthcare settings, public health organizations, or community health initiatives. • Experience in creating or disseminating health education materials. • Involvement in health promotion campaigns, community activation, or health-related research projects. The expected salary range for this position based on the location of California is $30-$55 USD per hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
