Job Summary: The Director of Catering & Sales is responsible for selling full-service off-premise and drop off catered events. In addition to managing client relationships, this position leads the sales team’s communication on internal production for food, beverages and service for events. As the senior sales leader, this position works side by side with the Operations Manager, Executive Chef, VP of Operations and Ownership. They are accountable for the financial and cultural health of the businesses as well as hiring and training a high performance team. They work closely with the rest of the leadership team and line staff to ensure that the highest standards are upheld in the aforementioned areas. This role’s responsibilities require consistent time management to achieve sales goals while successfully managing the administrative team and catering coordinators. Proactively research areas for growth and new business and put together a comprehensive sales strategy to meet monthly sales goals. Increase top-line revenue by reaching out to new potential clients via in-person meetings, calls, emails and mailings. Create repeat business by cultivating strong, caring relationships with clients throughout and beyond the event-planning process and identify areas for growth within current client list. Ensure the sales team are maximising revenue opportunities and up-selling where possible to current clients. Meet or exceed monthly and annual Catering sales budget goals. Ensure team completes all assigned sales administrative tasks accurately and on time. Develop strong relationships with venues and other event vendors in order to gain referrals. Seek feedback on reasons for lost business with the goal of improvement and keeping doors open for future opportunities. Manage promotional gifting to clients when necessary. Oversee the management of Social Media planning and posting making sure our company vision and style of food is effectively communicated through social media channels. Maintain awareness of progress towards sales budget goals. Oversee and manage all client communications relating to the sale and production of Drop Off on a daily basis, ensuring the highest quality experience for clients is consistently delivered. Review incoming inquiries and ensure all necessary information is obtained from prospective client; seek clarification and further details as needed. Ensure Drop Off Catering inquiries are responded to within the same day and client proposals are sent within 24 hours of receiving necessary information. Ensure clients are followed up within 2 days of sending a response or proposal and client sign off is received by due date. Ensure that pricing is appropriate and accurate on estimates and invoices and prepare custom pricing when needed. Oversee completion of all drop off client materials including proposals, dietary forms, sending of invoices and ensuring full payment is made by client on a timely basis. Communicate any custom needs to both Operations & Kitchen team when necessary. Attend Drop Offs as needed to make introductions to new clients and organize client promotional gifting when needed. Leads planning and execution of events and delegates roles within the team. Respond to all inquiries within 24 hours, ensure all proposals, contracts, and other client facing materials are sent within 48hrs. Ensure clients are followed up within an appropriate time frame. Communicate custom menu requests to Operations and Kitchen team, and manage process of on-going menu revisions. Manage and lead all internal communications & weekly meetings relating to the production of event, while meeting weekly deadlines for completion of food, beverage, equipment and rental equipment orders. Create & Manage BEOs, Staff Lists, Beverage & Alcohol Orders, Rental Equipment and Disposable Orders, ensuring that weekly deadlines are met. Oversee completion and sending of invoices and ensure full payment is made by client on a timely basis and follow-up until final payment is complete. Arrange for and attend site visits, walk-throughs and tastings as needed and manage communications regarding event floorplans, timelines, insurance, permitting, and rental equipment requirements. Oversee event set-up and service on-site as needed. Liaise between client and on-site team leaders to ensure success of event from beginning to end and champion all M&G standards & procedures. Ensure client is followed up post event in a timely manner and arrange for thoughtful gift during planning process, at event or as follow-up, when appropriate. Ensure rigorous knowledge of and adherence to all applicable laws, policies and procedures. Cultivate active understanding of annual events, competition, new venues, and trends in New York Metro area. Grows team of people who exemplify our culture and values. Manages training of new sales team members and ongoing training for current team members. Set the standards and always lead by example to create an inclusive and professional team atmosphere. Continually assess staff to identify strengths and areas needed for development, follow through on progress, complete performance reviews. Manages daily & weekly check-ins with team regarding Drop Off & Event Catering jobs. Remain current and compliant with the correct HR practices and policies. Involves sitting, walking and standing throughout most of the day
